Your Questions: CPA Exam Score Release Timeline
AICPA Insights was buzzing in late September with excitement over the announcement of an improved score reporting timeline that would release CPA Exam scores with greater frequency and predictability. As the first testing window under the new score release draws to a close, we are pleased to see that the score release timeline has been well received and is moving along as planned.
We have been actively listening to inquiries from CPA candidates, and here are answers to the common questions we have received regarding the 2011 faster score reporting timeline:
Q. Where are the released scores posted?
A. State boards of accountancy are still the only party with the authority to release scores to CPA candidates. Contact your state board of accountancy for their respective score release process.
Q. Which states are participating in the faster score reporting timeline?
A. All domestic scores are released on the same timeline regardless of jurisdiction. Candidates should be aware that each jurisdiction has its own score release process and should plan their schedules accordingly.
Q. In the score release table there is a column labeled, “Day in Testing Window,” and an asterisk with the text, “Records received by AICPA.” What does this mean?
A. In a vast majority of cases the AICPA will receive scoring data on the same day that a CPA candidate sits for the Exam. CPA candidates who wish to improve the certainty of the score release date are encouraged to take the Exam at least one day prior to the cutoff date.
Q. Can I schedule to take the CPA Exam during the “after close of window” period listed on the score release table?
A. No. The “after close of window” period is designated for emergency situations, for instance severe weather that leads to the closure of test centers and other services.
Q. If I take the CPA Exam at an international test center, what is the score release timeline?
A. Scores for international candidates are released approximately one day after scores for the domestic CPA Exam. More information can be found in the International CPA Exam FAQs.
