We Give Thanks for These Apps, Blogs and Social Media Tools
It’s the season of thankfulness. And adding to the list of family, health and happiness, I’d like to share some of the blogs, apps and social media channels that we really appreciate. Friends and coworkers helped me compile a list of technology tips and tricks that make work and life a little easier.
Jina Etienne, director of taxation at AICPA, says "I like the Starbucks app because customers can pay by phone, find a store nearby and get nutrition information about a favorite drink. My new favorite device is FitBit One because it can track my activity, even my sleep, and sync it to all the other sites I am using related to health and fitness, including RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal. Plus, it comes with its own app so you can see how you are doing anywhere, anytime."
Chris Tilley, communications marketing manager at the AICPA, told me about an interesting app called IFTTT, If This Then That. It lets you link social media channels together and take actions according to different formulas. For example, "If someone tags me in a Facebook photo, then it can send me a text message." Cool!
Heather O’Connor, senior communications manager at the AICPA, suggests Uber for finding a ride home from the airport or holiday party.
Alexis Rothberg, communications specialist at the AICPA, likes "the Nike + Running app, because it allows you to track your fitness progress."
Angela Viera, senior communications manager at the AICPA, suggests the iHeartRadio app for listening to your favorite holiday music.
Blogs and Websites
"Goodreads helps you organize lists of books that you want to read and have read. You can also suggest books for friends. Groupon and Living Social allow you to search for deals in your area. Makes purchasing easy," says Alexis Rothberg.
Social Media Channels and Tools
"I like Hootsuite, because I can see and post to all my social media accounts in one place. Plus, I can post something once across different accounts," says Jina Etienne.
Dan Nestle says he "can’t do business without LinkedIn and LinkedIn Pulse."
